Underground Coal Gasification

3rd International Conference on:

Underground Coal Gasification

London

5th and 6th February 2008

Please note these dates in your diary Feedback from last month’s conference was very clear and we have therefore extended next year’s conference to two days. Day one will be a workshops day and day two will be presentations of UCG developments around the world. We are now planning the programme and we seek expressions of interest to make a presentation or run a workshop. The conference will accommodate those interested to become sponsors, advertise in the programme or put on a poster display.

If you would like to discuss any of these options please contact: rohan.courtney@ucgp.com.

UCG in combination with CO2 capture and Storage (CCS) is recognised as an attractive route to carbon abatement from coal, as the process has all the benefits of pre-combustion processing, normally associated with gasification.
Worldwide Interest
Feasibility studies of UCG are currently underway in most coal producing countries. The UK has recently concluded an extensive review and Asia, S Africa, Australia are among the countries with active UCG programmes.
Key Facts
UCG is both an extraction and a coal conversion process in one step.

Comment: The April 2007 issue of “Science & Technology Review” from Lawrence Livermore National Lab has an article on ucg or underground coal gasification.
