The IMF put out a survey on stimulus about a week ago

http://www.imf.org/external/pubs/ft/survey/so/2009/INT021209B.htm

http://www.imf.org/external/pubs/ft/survey/so/2009/POL020709A.htm

It says:

“Over the two years, the United States has by far the largest package of fiscal actions, followed by Asia excluding Japan.

Japan, the euro area, and the rest of the G-20 have so far announced considerably smaller fiscal packages.”

Table 2 says stimulus announced as of January 2009 (which includes both supplementary packages for Japan) amounts to 1.4% of GDP and 0.4% for 2010. Table 4 says that stimulus willl add 0.7% to the baseline level of GDP in 2009 and 0.5% in 2010.

If the UBS forecast for a stunning 6.5% GDP decline in calendar 2009 and only a 0.8% recovery in 2010 is anywhere close to accurate, the stimulus so far is a drop in the ocean.
UBS is not alone; HSBC projects a 6.5% decline in 2009 and a 1.7% recovery in 2010; Morgan Stanley projects a decline of 6% in 2009 and another, tiny decline of 0.1% in 2010

Yosano is talking about another 2% of GDP but we have to see how much is “real water.”

IMF Survey: Africa Conference Debates Way Forward Amid Crisis

The international donor community must honor its commitments to Africa, but the continent can also do more to live up to its growth potential and strengthen its resilience, concluded participants at a two-day conference on Africa’s economy in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
